Sometimes kids make bad decisions.  Sometimes they get caught up in pressures.  Sometimes they come from homes characterized by violence, substance abuse, and poverty.  Sometimes they simply make a mistake.
The consequences for these kids can be devastating.  Grades suffer, relationships are pulled apart, addictions are born, and sometimes…the consequences are life-long.  Their future is in jeopardy unless we can help get them back on track.

Our Role

YSB specializes in helping adolescents and their families.  Our services are geared toward providing early identification of underlying issues that cause behavioral problems and emotional distress that can lead to the child getting into trouble.

We believe that redirecting the lives of “at risk” youth and empowering them to achieve more and get back on track is not only helpful to the family, but also to our community.  Successful detection and treatment can dramatically reduce costs associated with more expensive forms of intensive-based treatments and repeated juvenile delinquency.

YSB provides an array of services including individual and family counseling, therapeutic/educational groups, and specialty services such as crisis intervention for runaway youth and alternative to suspension programming.

We Need Your Help

It’s vital to get youth the help they need as early as possible.  The better we do this, the greater the impact on the child’s education, their family life, and our community as a whole.

Thanks to the help of people that care, YSB was able to provide services to over 1,300 people last year, the most in our agency’s history. The need for services continues to grow. The majority of these families were at or below the poverty line.  YSB provides reduced-cost services to DeKalb County residents which means more people have access to the help they need.

The need for services is growing.
