In December 2010, YSB started the “YSB Volunteer Team” as a way to say ‘thank you’ to our funders, donors, and community supporters for their continued generosity. This is our way of saying thank you for your continued support and confidence in the work we do.
The YSB Volunteer Team is comprised of YSB staff and their families, as well as youth who are interested. Throughout the year, we volunteer our time, energy, and skills to help others in our community on a regular basis. Below is a list of our volunteer experiences over the past year:
- United Way Day of Caring 8/09 – helped sound proof DeKalb County Animal Shelter
- Feed My Starving Children 2/10 – helped pack meals for Haiti earthquake survivors
- Global Youth Service Day 4/10 – partnered with YMCA and KEYS to provide service learning project to youth. Youth made and delivered baked goods to residents of the Golden Years Plaza.
- NIU Walk Out of Darkness 4/10 – staff walked for a cause, promoting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
- Bowl For Victims 4/10– YSB supported Innocent Children’s Foundation at Mardi Gras Lanes.
- Relay For Life – 6/10 – staff walked for a cause again, this time to support the fight against cancer.
